Our Story

Girling Health Care, a leading provider of health care in the United States, was founded in 1967 by Bettie and Bob Girling in Austin, Texas. The Girlings were pioneers in home health and built the company with the belief that people have the right to heal at home if at all possible. Through the years, they developed a comprehensive approach to home health and other home-based services. The company now has operations in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri (Missouri Home Care and American HomeCare), New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.

In 2007, Girling Health Care was acquired by Harden Healthcare, which is also headquartered in Austin. Harden was founded in 2001 and consists of several companies that offer a post-acute continuum of care, primarily for seniors, including skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, hospice and home healthcare.
