Lew Little is chief executive officer of Harden Healthcare and co-founded the company in December, 2001. Little is also CEO of Girling Health Care. Prior to Harden, Little was president of Capstar Partners, LLC, which is a private investment company that funds early stage technology companies, as well as traditional investments. For many years, Little worked in the banking industry, and was president of Bank of America in Austin. He was with Bank of America, and the banks that preceded it in Austin under different ownerships, from 1984 until 1999.
Little currently serves on several boards of directors, including the American Physicians Service Group (AMPH-NASDAQ), the Texas Healthcare Association and the ECG Foundation. In 1999, Little served as chairman of the United Way's $17.1 million annual campaign. He is also a member and current chapter chair of the Austin, Texas Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization. In June of 2005, Little was named Entrepreneur of the Year in Austin by Ernst and Young.
Born and raised in Austin, Little earned his B.B.A. in marketing (1979) and his M.B.A., with a concentration in finance (1981), from the University of Texas at Austin.
Wayne Douglas is the president of the Community Care Division of Girling Health Care. Prior to joining the company in 1991, he worked in the retail and wholesale grocery industry.
Douglas has served Girling Health Care in many capacities with experience in both home health and community/personal care. Among other accomplishments, he developed a community education staff for the private pay division, was the community care coordinator supervisor – a liaison between all the primary care offices and the Department of Human Services, and he also developed a community education program for the Medicare division.
In 1994, Douglas became responsible for the day-to-day operations for the primary care offices in Texas and for the Girling Medical Equipment & Supply Company. The job expanded in 1997 to include supervising operations for the Oklahoma Advantage and Personal Care programs. Douglas received his B.A. in Business Management in 1974 from the University of Texas at Austin.
Scott Herman joined Harden Healthcare in 2007 as president of Auxi Health, Harden's home health subsidiary which now operates under the Girling Health Care umbrella. Herman is responsible for management of all of Girling Home Health operations.
Herman has a 12-year history in the home health field. Prior to joining Harden, he was president and chief executive officer of Via Christi Home Care in Wichita, Kansas. He also previously served as president and COO of SCCS Health & Hospice, and chief operating officer of VNA Vermont/New Hampshire, among several other home health leadership positions.
Via Christi Home Care was named to the Home Care Elite in 2006. In addition, the company was named Wichita's "Best Place to Work" in 2007.
Herman earned his bachelor of science degree in nursing from Kansas Newman College. Prior to transitioning to the home health industry, Herman worked as a paramedic and EMS Lieutenant for several years.
